Apache Junction Trail

Tuesday, September 8, 2015

We spent eight glorious hours driving the hair raising twists and turns of the Apache Junction Trail. The road is not for the faint of heart and I must admit I was gripping my "o shit" handles rather tightly while yelling at Jer to watch the road. It was pretty hard not to take your eyes off the majestic scenery so we made quite a few pit stops to take it all in.
We drove through the Superstition Mountains and the Tonto National Forest for about 35 miles on unpaved roads passing beautiful deep blue lakes all the while hoping that the "granny mobile" didn't get a flat or overheat because neither one of us had cell service. She was a champ and pulled through. We ended the drive at Lake Roosevelt and found our own private inlet and swam for the rest of the day.  Bonus points to the hubs for the suggestion.
