Snow Day

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

It was the perfect morning in Phoenix. The sun was shining and the weather was a comfortable 68 degrees (the first of these days in a long time). But, we got dressed in our winters best and headed two hours north to Flagstaff to play in the snow.

When we arrived we were starving so we grabbed some breakfast at La Bellavia Restaurant which is a small hole in the wall serving up some great pancakes and eggs Benedict.

Would you like some eggs with your hollandaise sauce?

After spending too much time searching for snow boots after breakfast with zero luck (someone told me I would not need them) we arrived at Buffalo Park for an easy two mile hike with panoramic views of the snow capped mountains.

The trail led us to a wooden ravine which made one man very happy and in his element (trees, trees everywhere).

No snow day would be complete without a friendly snowball fight.

One of the many things I love about Arizona is with just a short drive you can breath in the fresh mountain air, play in the snow (Luna loved it), and feel like you are in a place far far away. Two hours later we were back in the desert.
