I recently had a conversation with some friends about trying on and wearing our wedding dresses. I insisted that I knew mine would not fit and was not about to even attempt trying.
Well...
The red wine stain is still on the front of my dress. Some may say I am lazy for not getting it cleaned and I may agree with them a little. But there is a part of me that just did not want to wash off anything from that special night.
I felt like if I got it cleaned that I would look at the dress as a bright new shiny object.
That I would forget about the dirty bottom of the dress because I decided to ditch the heels and go barefoot in the sand (because really who wears heels in the sand) and that high tide came rushing in during our pictures.
That I would forget about dancing full on with a glass of red wine in my hand without a care in the world.
That I would forget the smell of the ocean while saying our vows.
The dress was worn and it was worn well. Who would want to wash that away?
I'm so glad I did not.
Happy Anniversary, baby!
Happy belated anniversary! And I completely understand what you mean by not wanting to wash a way anything from that night, I once held on to a dollar bill for a year because it had special memories.
ReplyDeleteI ended up using it accidentally, and I was so absurdly sad over that dollar bill for a few days, but then I realized I still had the memories and that was good enough.

Thank you Angelina! I know what you mean. I am usually not the type to hold on to much but I do have a few things I will never part with.
