Brunch at Virtu

Tuesday, January 16, 2018

Let me tell you about a little place, tucked on a quiet street in Old Town Scottsdale, where the best french toast of your life awaits! Virtu is one of my all time favorite brunch spots in Scottsdale.

They may not have an endless Bloody Mary bar (which I'm not a huge fan of anyway) but they do have some of the best cocktails. Try the Reverse Italian Old Fashion with Cardamaro, Dark Rum, Blackberry Liquor, Lemon & Orange Essence, and Aromatic Bitters. So good, we had to make a pit stop at Total Wine to stock up and try to recreate it when we got home. It did not go well. Mixologists, we are not.

Shockingly, Jer skipped his usual grilled octopus and went with the Chistorra and Eggs with carmelized onions and potatoes.

I ordered the Pork Ragu with Mascarpone Polenta, Salsa Verde, Noble Toast with eggs over easy. If you're looking for a savory dish this is it!!

AND

The Brown Butter French Toast (noble bread, toffe, and cinnamon pears)!!!! Yes, I ordered two dishes. No, I'm not sorry. This is hands down the best french toast ever and I've had my share.

The weather has been perfect so we sat outside in their quaint courtyard and enjoyed great food, cocktails, and sunshine.

The restaurant is a James Beard nominee and was voted Best New Restaurant in America by Esquire. Each time we return it never disappoints. Now, just to try their dinner. Until next time.
