The Cactus

Monday, August 28, 2017

I've been sitting here trying to figure out a clever way to describe this post. But, let's just be real. This is us in front of a giant cactus that I took way too many pictures of and needed a place to store them.

Driving through Paradise Valley, passing by many multi million dollar homes, you would not expect to find this hidden gem.

Taking the Steps-Broken Arrow Trail

It's mid morning, Jer's sister and her friend are in town. We are all sitting on the couch discussing plans for the day. When I say discussing, I mean everyone saying, "I don't care what we do. What do you want to do?"  Round and round we go. My option of kayaking Salt River was quickly shot down. I really, really want to see the wild horses that make their appearance at the river bed. Seems like it might have to be a solo trip I have to take.

Since Jer's sister had not been to Sedona we all agreed to make the trip north. With strict instructions to be out the door by noon (from our driver, Jer), we sprang to our feet to get ready.

Driving north the clouds were thick, skies grey, and you could see showers in the distance. I guess it would've been smart to check the weather before we left but, carpe diem.

Amelia Island

Thursday, August 3, 2017

It's 2am and I am being cursed out by my husband (under his breath) wanting to know why I booked a flight so early. Well, because it was free (with miles) so wakey wakey.

I am one of those annoying people (according to my husband) who actually get to the airport on time. Meaning, two hours prior to departure for domestic flights. He has a field day with this; I receive constant eye rolls and lectures of how he arrives to the airport with less time and has no problem.

This particular morning, we arrived to the airport nice and early. We made our way to security. There was only one TSA line open due to the early morning hours. At first glance, the line looked manageable. But, after twenty minutes we had not moved. Twenty minutes became forty minutes and I proceeded to give the look. You know, when your head tilts down, your eyebrows are raised, and without having to say "I told you so", he knew. We ended up making the flight with no time to get food or drinks.

We were on our way to Amelia Island for a family vacation. Being so far from family, makes it all the more sweeter to see everyone when we get the chance.
